Dimensional Modelling Question

Hi Adrian,

Your product is still on my list of things to do....and I will give it run when I get some time... :-)

At the moment I'm playing around with Meta5 again. The kind folks at

Meta5 have provided me with a 'loaner' copy so I can write some example apps and publish them.

This is so I can share with the rest of the world just what I mean when I say that Meta5 is still so sophisticated it can do things that are very difficult, if not impossible, to do with 'leading' BI tools today.....

I am having a lot of fun playing around with it again after 9 years!!!!

Best Regards

In our system [1] we take a different approach to hiding complexity.

A la Einstein, we "make things as simple as possible, but no simpler than that".

You and the list folks could be the judge please of whether we have oversimplified.

(Folks offended by the mention of an emerging product, please stop reading here).

The basic idea is to express the application as business rules in open vocabulary English. From the rules, the system can automatically generate and run SQL. To do this, it looks up meta information in the DBMS.

Then, the system can explain what's going on, at the business level.

Very

different from a SQL explain plan !

How does that sound ?

Cheers, -- Adrian
